From spring

I'm back to Duino where today it was totally spring. The project week is over, I came back on Thursday and happily enjoyed myself being alone in the room and doing some art stuff that I've missed so badly. The project wasn't as good as I expected, but Croatia is a super beautiful country. Once I'll make myself go through the pictures, I'll post some. Man, I have to write essay in Italian about one day from the Project week that I liked most. What if I didn't like any of them? Imagination mode on.

I've been alone in the room for almost three days. I've been painting today listening to Sigur Ros and it was amazing. I've been writing letters. I've been doing things from fimo. I've been painting with watercolours. I've been watching Lithuanian movies and listening to Lithuanian songs. I've talked to my family for the whole afternoon. All of this brings me closer to home. And all of this is so rare here in college. I'm pretty happy now.

Btw, there is an article in laimikis.lt by me about the Venice carnival. Click click!

Venice carnival

Venice carnival was amazing, so I felt like making this enormous post for you guys to be entertained the whole week. I am leaving for Croatia tomorrow, because the Project week has started. Not very excited right now, but we'll see. Okay, let's go to Venice now!
Place
Venice was even more crowded than usually. Going from Santa Lucia train station to Piazza San Marco took us around 4 hours. Anyway, it was worth it. Not only because of what we saw, but there was this spirit in the streets, lots of street musicians, food markets and masks.
These huge insects on platforms were driven around. They were moving as if they were real, believe me, the view was amazing.
Piazza in the sunset.

The Masks
breathtaking
People
a stunning bug (?) costume
just so very Italian
a group of bubble-heads. Lovely contrast to the traditional masks
very warm and funny Shrek's cousin couple
simple but warm
I still wonder if that's her real hair...if not, she's probably the youngest baby to wear a wig
a very charming street musician
these two just looked super cool
my lovely friend and travel mate Tereza
A guy with amazing hair and a very happy tourist
Anybody tempted to come next year?

Happy Valentine's day! Hope you're all happy, love and are loved (which I'm sure you are). I did spring cleaning today, finished almost all the homework for tomorrow but still have some things to do not for school. The Venice carnival yesterday was really inspiring and pictures coming soon (hopefully).

A card for today with my photo. The word means "together" therefore I thought it's nice to put it today:) Spread the love!

the Portrait

'to reveal art and conceal the artist is art's aim' (O.Wilde, 'the Picture of Dorian Gray')

Model: Makar

Assistant: Tereza

Photography: me

I'm very satisfied with this photoshoot. First of all, I don't get to shoot guys that often (which I'll try to change from now on). Secondly, it was so much fun because all three of us are artistic people and get along really well. Thirdly, the association with Dorian Gray. I'm not sure how it popped into my mind, the photoshoot itself wasn't done with the idea of reffering to the book. We're analysing Dorian Gray in English class now and I love it. I did it in Lithuanian back home, but here we do it in a different way and yeah, it's lovely. As I mentioned above, Makar drew the picture, so it kind of fits the topic. I also feel like the two of them (Makar+picture) have this double energy. Hope you like this shoot as much as I do. Comments are more than welcome.
