Sun sun sun . How I love sunny days in the college and how I love my friends and how I love the cakes that they bake when I'm sad and the chocolate they bring when they care about me and the smiles I get from them in whatever mood I am.

A view up a steep incline
Another hometest task for the Cooper Union art university I applied to ages ago. Still waiting for the answer and the waiting is totally killing me. Collage with photographs, lower part - watercolours, ink. Another task - 'Observed changes in water over an extended period of time' here and more about the whole Cooper union thing here.
My oh my, my mood is just so weird these days, one moment I'm bursting with feelings, the next second I'm not even being able to smile. I guess I'll slowly start doing some more art to get my balance back. | Reakcijos: |

Etc.
These past few days were full of things happening, yet I think that the weekend was one of most awesome weekends I ever had here in the college. On Friday our 2nd years (last year's graduates from the college) started coming for the reunion. It was really cool, emotional and, of course, a bit weird, because the life goes on and it's already unusual to see the faces from last year here. On Saturday I really randomly got a suggestion to go to the Guggenheim museum in Venice with the art students, because there was the Italian showcase that night and the Italian student needed the day to prepare for it (the show was awesome!!!). So I went.
The exhibiton, as seen in the picture, was of the Vorticists, the movement that took place during the WWI. Some of the pieces were very good (Henri Gaudier-Brzeska, Jacob Epstein, Christopher Nevinson, Wyndham Lewis), and the BLAST magazine was awesome too, but then some other pieces I would not call that much of an art...the captions said that a lot of works were lost during the war, and later we talked with the group about that. One girl had the opinion of "It's so cool that they were creating art during the war, just sitting in the house when the bombs were falling outside", but I still think that in the end it's the result that matters. Even though those pieces are a part of the movement, if they don't really have much of an artistic value, it does not matter how or when they were created. I can paint a picture at night in complete darkness standing on the roof or something, but the viewer will judge the quality of the picture, but not the method. At least that is my opinion. Hm. The regular collection in Guggenheim is of course very impressive, though I'm not really a big fan of Dali, not that much of Pollock either. Actually Pollock's pieces didn't look as nice as I imagined them to be. Klee is nice. Joan Miro, Clyfford Still, Joseph Cornell too.
Later we just wandered around Venice, had a pizza and gelato (like always) and tired because of the amount of art we had to absorb just sat next to the train station observing people for a while. Lovely day. Later that evening we had the Italian week show in the college, which was very awesome, so I went to bed all happy on Saturday.
Sunday I was preparing for my English oral that I had yesterday and we had the most amazing concert where 3 generations from the college met and performed. It was the best concert so far we had in the college this year. Everyone's so talented. And I really mean it. This is what I am certainly going to miss when I graduate (not thinking about it, not thinking about it...!)
I got accepted to another university, Birmingham city university in UK, Birmingham Institute of Art and Design. Yet in the UK, London College of Communication still stays my first choice...and I'm still waiting for a few answers from US, important ones. Oh, and Parsons has sent me this nice booklet as seen in the picture, it's so nice to get these things. Really feels welcomed.
We were working on the pictures for the yearbook recently and here are a few of the photography activity in the college and my lovely tutorial group. Really awesome people. I've changed the blog design a little by adding the pages on the upper right corner - now you can read a bit more about me, as well as navigate through the photoshoots and travels more easily. I'm probably gonna be developing this a bit more, but I hope it comes handy!

Birthdays!
Two very important people for me are celebrating their birthdays today - my grandpa and my awesome friend Rajah. Unfortunately I could only send a message to my parents so they wish a happy birthday to granpa from me, but I could do a bit more for Rajah. So the last few days I was running around with a camera that I borrowed from another college student, trying to get all the people that are good friends with Rajah to say a few things about him. The making process was actually a lot of fun. Recently I'm more or less always in my room or maybe one or two other rooms doing things, and now I had to visit all the residences to find the necessary people. Got to talk to them too. And I realised how much I LOOOOVE filming. I'm definitely saving some money to get a camera that can film HD, it's amazing! Ok, stop motion is fun and everything, I could marry photography for sure, but filmed material makes such good memories... This is definitely a field that I will explore once I get the chance and some time.
Today the weather is just amazing, everything's blooming and my mood is awesome. Unfortunately I'm extremely sleepy since I didn't get much sleep last night. Taking a nap now, before getting back to work. The major deadline for yearbook pages is tomorrow and I have hell knows how many tutorial pictures and other stuff I have to edit and send. Aaah.
Haha, I can't believe that I was singing that song in the video...there are many internal jokes, so you'll probably find some parts weird. But anyway, we showed it with a projector on the wall yesterday night and Rajah looked very happy. I'm happy too, then.

whiter whiter
got my hair even blonder today - white white white. Aah. Actually this is what I wanted from the very beginning, but it was impossible to do at once without destroying the hair. Finally. The hairdresser was also very nice, considering the fact that I was speaking my broken Italian and trying to explain what I want. Success though.
Today we had a prom in the college, I was shooting, so I have some pretty cool pictures of beautiful people. We also had my tutor's husband's band playing live, so good music too. Unfortunately (or inevitably), my mood was bad as always when it comes to big events or gatherings and once I could not hide behind my camera anymore, I headed home. Listening to Sigur Ros and feeling much better. My blog is my little corner to hide - in a weird way, since it's just the most public place you can think of. I should think it over though, my relationship with photography...
We're going to Mantova tomorrow with school - a long trip - but I've seen some pictures of this city and it seems to be very pretty. Can't wait! Should get some sleep before though, past days were somehow mentally very confusing for me and this resulted in very weird sleeping habits as well. Meh.
P.S. Seva's blog post about our trip to London here! (beware my facial expressions haha)

Teardrop monster
another accessory post - yay! Presenting a Teardrop monster which is a good friend of mine since I can wear it with more formal clothes and still look funky. In the picture below I'm also wearing the pink spiky hair band. I really need to dye my hair again, hard to keep myself blonde, haha.
Anyway, I've just finished my formal Italian oral! My topic was 'Il Rinascimento' and yes, I did it, I did it, wooohooo!!! I even called my mom on the phone even though it's expensive just to scream how relieved I am. Uf...Now only Lithuanian and English orals left and at least I feel I am able to communicate in these two languages pretty well.

London London London
well I managed to go through all the pictures, therefore posting the London part first!
We arrived on Monday evening with a badass plan to make it to the Noah and the Whale concert the same evening. We somehow made it, yet the concert appeared to be 6 songs out of which we saw only 4...hm. Apparently it was only an introduction for the new album. Nobody was dancing, everyone was filming and our little group dancing on the side probably looked weird for everyone...The band played those few songs that I knew (5 years time, Life goes on) and later we managed to talk to them and get them to sign their new album. Apparently my name is Sieva though, lol!
Anyway, after the fail concert we ( I mean Seva and I) went around the area, got some Bangladeshi sweets and managed to get to our host who appeared to be such a sweet person and cared about us so much! Her place was very different from all the houses I've ever been to - pink, white, very princesslike and stuff. I did feel a bit out of it with my clothes and hair, but anyway, it's very interesting to spend a few days in a house that I will probably never have.
The next day we went to the National gallery (awesome!), Oxford street, Covent Garden, Camden town, etc. - all the places that I went to 3 years ago. Very interesting to see how my perception has changed over these years. It was a lovely day though, amazing weather.
In the evening we managed to get to more of touristic places. There was one guy taking pictures of himself, like hundreds of them, so we made fun of him taking pictures of each other with Big Ben in the background...so much fun. The next day I was running around in the tube trying to get to Elephant and castle where my portfolio review for the London College of Communication took place. I really thought that it wasn't worth going when I saw all those people with their real portfolio works whereas I had only a cd, because I could not transport everything from Italy, as well as from Lithuania. Apparently, it was worth it, because as I mentioned before, I got accepted...I actually got an e-mail from Parsons New School of Art and Design in NYC today, saying that I am accepted there too...there is still a lot to do in order to get a scholarship, but hell, I AM accepted to freakin' Parsons!!! Uf, now I just need to get the answers from a few other unis, find out things about scholarships and then I'll be finally able to choose where I want to spend the next 3 or 4 years of my life.
Right now I think I should get back to preparing for my formal Italian oral which is tomorrow...eek.

back to Italy
hello hello from Duino. So yesterday, after 14 hours of travelling we finally got back from Wales. I'm still very very tired, a bit sick and feeling completely lost at school, but nevertheless, very happy about the whole trip. It was awesome. Walking around in London, going to the interview which appeared to be only a portfolio review (I got in!!! LCC, Graphic and Media design!!! OMG, so happy!!!), rushing in the tube, then going to Wales, to the beautiful Atlantic college, meeting my old friends, as well as some awesome new people. I'm still going through the pictures, so I'll post all the adventures later. But it was a lot, a lot of fun. And very inspiring indeed. It just proved me again, that some friendships can exist despite the distance or the time spent apart.
Other than the awesome trip, I was and am very concerned about what was and is happening in Japan... so far I've heard almost from all my friends living there and they're all fine, yet the scale of the disaster is just so huge...I keep checking the news and there's no end to it. I know that there are already ways to make donations and stuff (Red Cross), I haven't really had time to search for the links yet, but I think something has to be done...I'll try, hopefully my health will allow me to. Huh...so bad.
I guess I'll run to philosophy class now. Wish me luck, because I have the feeling that I will fall asleep at least in one lesson today.
P.S. Thanks for all the comments in the previous post!!!

Off to UK
So tomorrow I'm leaving this beautiful yet a bit windy country called Italy for a project week in UK. We're flying from Trieste tomorrow around noon, going to London first, spending a few days going around, hopefully hitting some nice concerts and museums, then on Wednesday I am going to an interview at London College of Communication, then somehow catching a bus to Cardiff, somehow catching another bus to St. Donat's castle and finally arriving at the United World College Atlantic in Wales, where our wonderful project week group is going to spend the rest of the week till we get back to Italy on Sunday.
So far I know at least 5 transportation links that might fail, but this is what travelling is for - adventures!
Since the school has finished on Friday and all the other groups have already left for their project weeks, we had a nice break just chilling out, sleeping and being lazy. I don't think I've ever done this in the college. Feels really good. Even though almost the whole day today I was trying to put together my portfolio for the interview.
I might drop a line from UK if I have any decent internet connection, yet if not, I'll remind about myself on Sunday or later. Getting excited already! Uh, and today's song~
This is where I eat when the weather is good - our wonderful Mensa balcony. Pure heaven. Picture by Seva. Visit her blog!
