These past few weeks have been very busy and things seem to be getting even busier in the next few weeks, but I somehow still managed to see some of my friends, either those living in London, or those who came to visit. These people keep me sane! ^^

Food pictures! We went to a Japanese restaurant called 'Hare and Tortoise', since our beloved 'Kimchee' was closed. But the food was awesome, the staff as well, and the food portions were actually huge! Loved it there!

JB gave me a 'Happy New Year' card since it was the Chinese New Year recently. So sweet! I love the card! For those who don't know, the shape is of the Korean traditional costume called han-bok! So pretty! I feel like making some cards or writing some paper letters, haven't done it for ages. BUT the uni assignment comes first. Meh.

Last week my friend whom I see once a year or so (if not less) was in London, hooray for that. I went around the town with him quite a bit and then he had this mostly-UWC-kids party right before he left. It's really refreshing to talk to UWCers time to time...feels like coming back to the college for a while.

Aaand, the beginning of the month, a little CRS reunion with Jenny, who came all the way from Finland for an audition, Lisa, who studies at LCF, me and Aria who's from LSE...and even though all of us except for Jenny live in London, we almost never meet. Hooray for the London distances and uni work. Anyway, this was a short reunion, but a nice one.

So basically I had some Asia, some UWC and some CRS in my life, which is very nice...I have a feeling somehow that I've been getting all these reminders about the past recently. I tend to only look forward and ignore the past often, maybe I'm being reminded that the past also has its significance. We'll see.

really randomly stumbled across the London China Town today during my aimless wanderings in London (needed some time to think), just to realise that it's the Chinese New Year and that people are actually celebrating. Loving the lanterns! Pretty pretty! I heard that next week there is gonna be a parade to celebrate and some more events happening, but just wanted to post these pictures and wish everyone a really successful New Year of the Blue Dragon! Yay!

P.S. This random bubble thing was in the Trafalgar square and I assume that it's somehow connected to the Chinese New Year... Contemporary lantern or smth? Anyone knows? *confused*

about haircuts

I was talking about haircuts today with my friend and remembered these pictures of my brother that I took after he changed his hairstyle. My mum is awesome in cutting people's hair and she always styles my dad and my brother. And finally we managed to get my brother to change a little bit by having the sides of his hair shorter, almost shaved. I think it really looks good on him.

Oh those cheekbones, why didn't I inherit them...haha.

I'm totally inlove with the side-shaved haircuts for men. It looked awesome on Key in the Korean version of Lucifer, even though it's a bit of a radical hairstyle (he had one side dyed white though, not completely shaved, here). Key also had a very interesting hairstyle in the Japanese version of the same song, even though I'm against dyeing hair blue for some reason (here!).The layers remind me of Jonghyun's hairstyle in the RDD times, I wish he had that now! (here and here).

Coming back to the side-shaved hairstyle, Mir from MBLAQ recently got his awesome bleached hair shaved on both of the sides and it looks more than awesome! Blonde hair + sides shaved, the best haircut ever. See here, here, here and once you know who he is, you can spot him in their new video here.

Talking about myself, on the 15th Jan it's gonna be a year since I dyed my hair blonde! I remember I was really afraid and also thought of dyeing it back to brown a few times after, because sometimes it's really bothersome, since my hair grows so fast. But I love it so much now. It's also getting longer, which is unusual for me! Take a look at what I had before:

basically everything...except for long hair, which I only had in 4th grade or something, so no proper pictures. In 2007/08 I was red and orange, later that turned into the colour of honey, then dark, Miyavi inspired haircut that looked so bad on me, later dark with some highlights, last year I had a boring dark and short hair, which later turned into yellowish blonde and after that white blonde. Now I'm a bit more yellowish again, but my hair is much longer - all the same lenght. Well, hello!

Anyone wants to share some pictures of awesome haircuts or maybe have any ideas of what I could do to my head when I get bored of being white? ^^

Blue flying birds leggings - DIY - dip dyeing

hello! This lovely Sunday I've decided to post a little DIY tutorial of a simple way how to make your leggings more interesting. I had this pair which was of a very weird colour - too close to the colour of the skin, but too white/blue to be the colour of the skin. And that's why I decided to paint something on them, so that I don't look like a walking zombie.

it was so awkward taking these pictures, haha

I dip-dyed the bottom of the leggings and drew little black birds, as well as added some silver dots.

The process...easy! Just take some textile paint (I used the wrong one, so the colour wasn't as strong as I wanted it to be), put a little bit of water in it and dip your item. Then add a bit more paint and dip your item again, but not as deeply as the first time. And do it as many times as you want there to be layers. I did mine 3 or 4 times and it was ok. I'd suggest finding a nice place to hang in, otherwise you're gonna end up having paint all over the ground ^^

As the weather was fantastic yesterday, I went out to the city to buy a few things and see how London is doing after the month we've spent apart. As today I'm supposed to be working on my uni project and I need to procrastinate with something, I'm posting a ton of pictures from yesterday. Teehee! (yeah, I'm a secret nigahiga fan)

Apparently there is a new photography exhibition, pretty nice. I wanted to go through some books in the library, but had no clue that it closes at 4 pm that day...Well, I had half an hour, lol. At least I got the documents that I came for. And almost walked into the glass library door. Yeepyy.

Aaaand, on the train. The sky was so pretty...there was no sun, nor blue sky in Lithuania recently, so I'm really enjoying the warmth here. And for those who were wondering why there are no people in these pictures - yup, I was all by myself! #foreveralone

Even though I've posted the pdf version already, I've decided to put up the pictures of the actual magazine, because it looks so much nicer, haha.

So here's my DIY article published in the 'laikas.lt' magazine. The magazine's topic is 'Aliens' and that's why I was asked to do a galaxy t-shirt and a dress. The magazine just came out a few days ago, so I couldn't find it in my town, but my brother managed to get one copy and give it to me right before I got on the plane to U.K., so I had a good read on the plane. Also met a very nice girl on the plane and took a picture of her for my 'I dream here too' project. My first dreamer that has a double location, since we've met in the air, haha.

And the pdf version of the magazine here, since I'm deleting the previous post.

They've even put my name in the section of the people who participated in making the magazine. So sweet.

really embarassed with this picture... I don't like big pictures of myself in magazines, haha.

anyway, I landed safely in London yesterday, successfully carried my 12kg bag home, today I can't lift my arms, but who cares. Will drop by university today and roam around a little bit since I've got a few things that I need to buy. A few friends might be coming next week and I really need to start my uni assignment, so will probably be working on the weekend.

So in January I turned blonde, February found me in Verona, working hard for my university applications and taking pictures of Virginia. In March I went to Venice, Mantova, London and Wales, got accepted to Parsons, LCC and some other schools, made this little video for Rajah. April - Carlota's and Sergio's photoshoots, May brought me the final exams, Rosalba's photoshoot (part I and part II), Ushma's and Carla's photoshoots and leaving the place where I lived for two years. As we left Italy and went travelling around Europe with my family, I think I left that Ieva I knew somewhere along the way, maybe in Venice or Verona, maybe in the mountains here or there, maybe in Salzburg.

In June I managed to get involved in some projects that are still not released (except for Marius' pictures), couchsurf in Poland with my friend Simona as we went all the way to see the Arcade Fire concert in Warsaw and for some reason posted the Doppelganger stopmotion video that I made in spring. Did I mention that I Bubbled the city again? Here! July - making accessories, finished editing Renate's photoshoot, had an article published in a newspaper about my trip to Japan. Participated in the Sea festival street market. August found me relaxing at the seaside in Kunigiškės and Nida, as well as finally finishing editing all the pictures from spring (Rajah, Tereza) and some new ones (Deimantė part I, part II, part III) . Was invited to be a photographer in the 'Now Japan' event and had a great time with some old friends there.

September - Arminas' and Jovilė's photoshoots, moved to London, started university. In October I turned 20 and started my beloved 'I dream here too' project. Also, pictures of Ting-Lin. The main highlight of November was definitely the SHINee concert in the beginning of the month, as well as the package from Korea later. I also started learning Korean in November. And pictures of Suomi.

And here comes the last but not the least - December, Finished my university assignment of the term (the Window catalogue), went home for Christmas and made this little monster video. As well as realised how much I love home and my family. That was my year. What a crazy one, I should say.

This year I have definitely changed a lot. I don't think there was ever a year with so many departures, both physically and in my mind. As I left the past behind, I grew to realise the importance of some things that I used to take for granted. This year I have definitely cried the most in all 20 years of my little life, but now looking back none of those tears hurt me anymore. I believe I've learnt the lessons that those tears brought me.

I have also been very happy many, many times. And I'm especially glad, because over this year that happiness has become a constant feeling, rather than a flash that comes and goes.

And for 2012..? I've got lots of things I'll have to do. But I also just want to be happy. Ieva fighting!

New blog design and 90 monster challenge video!

This is a little video of my 90 monster project/challenge I mentioned a few times before.

The idea was basically to fill a little notebook with monsters, because I tend to draw them on random surfaces and never had them all in one place. The notebook happened to have 90 pages and that's why this whole little project became a 90 monster challenge ^^ It's a very simple video I recorded with my phone - nothing too fancy and almost no proper editing either, because I don't have the software. YET - my phone happens to film in hd, so probably more videos coming up in the near future! The quality is great! Yay for samsung!

Anyway, video and the little book made by Ieva Blaževičiūtė (me), music - 'Dear my love' by 雅-MIYAVI-, one of my most respected and loved musicians. Enjoy and let me know what you think!

I was always somehow against using various phone apps for pictures, but after having tried one I realised how addicting those are. I am still gonna take normal pictures with a proper camera, but I guess you'll see more of random pictures from my daily life from now on. A bit of b/w Christmas for today.

While waiting for my grandma to get ready. Somehow liked how the chairs were put. It was so slippery that day though, we were so nervous until everyone gathered together, because the driving conditions were super bad. It was even hard to walk outside, too slippery!

And I really don't remember when was the last time we didn't have snow for Christmas... :(

Winter Wonderland

some pictures from the Winter Wonderland in Hyde park, London. I went there twice, the second time I brought a tripod and tried to do some low light photography. It all failed though, because of the strong wind, so in the end Heymon and I just walked around a little bit. In any case, these are the pictures I/we got. Just wanted to have a bit of a Christmasy mood in the blog.

Some indie(an) tasselness!

Hello hello! So this time instead of posting an accessory that was made in summer, I decided to show something that I made a few days ago. Even though I still have loads of pictures from my summer accessory making madness ^^ This time it's an experiment - I was always drooling over those tassel+leather+feather necklaces that Taemin would wear (I seem to be obsessed with Taemin's necklaces, but he always wears cool ones...I made one before - here) or those I would see in various fashion websites. So I tried to make something similar for myself...Not sure if it worked out or not, but so far I like it. It's very hard to work with feathers, because there is literally no way how to make them stick to any material and stay there in a correct place.

I also used a golden spray for the ends of the tassels and some spiky turquoise beads to have more of a colourful accent. I'll try to make more items with those beads, but they're also hard to use because of the shape. But I love the colour ^^

These pictures , though, were taken using a direct flash, so the real colours are more visible in the close-up pictures in the end of the post!

Ever since I came back home I've been doing random things, but I'm slowly getting back to my productive self. I've realised that every single time I go away for a longer time and stop making things, it takes time to get back to the patient Ieva mode... Probably because when I come back I have so many ideas of things I want to make that I'm just jumping around indecisive of what to make first ^^ Anyway, enough blahblah-ing, let me know what you think about this!

P.S. I've been stumbling accross some cool blogs recently and thinking that I might try to include more of my own findings and stories...even though I've decided not to put anything here that is not made by me. Not sure yet, but might change things next year. Let me know if you have any suggestions or you think something would be interesting to you!

A bit of Christmas in Vilnius

just a few pictures of the main piazza in Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania. We stopped by when driving from the airport to my hometown...even though I guess London has many more lights and everything, Vilnius is much prettier for me before Christmas. Too much is too much. Or maybe I just love home too much.

one of the main points was that you could actually see the beauty of the place without a huge mass of people...which London cannot really offer, hihi. Lovin' the main street in Vilnius being that empty. Well it was also pretty late.

I'm doing very well at home, getting back to making accessories, also doing a few diy projects and slowly starting to think about my next uni assignment...As well as chilling and watching movies with my parents and that huge TV that they bought. Man, I get suprised everytime I see it, haha.

I had such a nice Korean lesson today, also some nice onigiris...just one more day and I will be home! Having this nice, warm and sleepy feeling inside I felt like posting these pictures...instead of revising the Korean verb tenses, haha. My head is too sleepy for hangul right now.

so today I handed in my very first university assignment - a research catalogue. The task would be a little bit hard to explain since we've been doing it for a few months already, but it's mostly about the place and the artefact. We had to explore how the place and location can influence our perception of an artefact/object, then choose a specific object and take our personal approach on it in a creative way.

The essay in the end of the catalogue was also a part of the assignment, feel free not to read it, I just wanted to publish the whole thing without taking anything out ;)

As you probably have noticed from the cover, I decided to explore 'windows'. Since I've just handed in my work, I have no clue whether I took the right approach, but in any way, I actually enjoyed working on this project, despite struggling with InDesign in the beginning...since it was the first time I ever worked with it. Also, printing, binding, all the type things...there's a whole new world behind printing even the most basic book, a world that I didn't even know existed. That's why I really feel that I'm learning new things. Haha, I was literally staring like an idiot when they were explaining us the different ways of binding books, using all those specific terms that didn't mean anything to me.

Anyway, I finished everything on time, printed and binded and also published it on issuu for you guys to take a look - here it is! Don't expect too much, since it's my first attempt to design a book. Also, just to avoid any misunderstandings, none of the pictures used (e.g. the animal head ones) have anything to do with the people that were in the pictures - I have nothing against my friends, haha, I just needed to use some pictures from before. Same with the names of the monsters - nothing personal :)

Anyway, hope you guys enjoy looking at my struggle towards becoming a graphic designer (LOL), I can annoy everyone by saying that I actually have 5 weeks of Christmas break, also working on quite a few awesome projects and going home in less than a week! YAY!

P.S. Any comments or suggestions would be really appreciated! I'm totally a newbie in this!

Blue umbrella with happy silver drops

A commissioned umbrella design I did right before leaving for the U.K. The most painful umbrella painting experience ever...my knees were hurting like hell -.- even though it looks very nice when the picture is finished, the process of painting on an umbrella is rather tiring because of its particular shape. Anyway, the woman wanted a playful and funny design, that would be connected to the sea topic. I came up with this, I hope she liked it ^^

It's actually already the 6th umbrella I painted, wow. The first one I painted was for my awesome friend Noru-chan almost 4 years ago and omg, honestly, what was I thinking...why painting a face when I'm so bad at drawing people? Anyway, so the first umbrella here (lol at my English...but I remember how happy I was to give that umbrella to my friend) , then there was the red umbrella (here), no clue where it is now, a yellow one I made for another awesome friend of mine Simona (here), the blue one that someone destroyed a little bit during one of the street markets (here) and which I quite like even now, and then my baby with the Chinese style birds (here). Reeeeally love that one. I think I still have it back home in Lithuania. Wow, time really flies. Sometimes I love looking at my old old posts and laughing at all the horrible stuff I used to make/draw. It suddenly struck me today too, that it's been 6 years since I got my first photocamera. Waaaaah.

I'm slowly wrapping up my university project, only some last touches needed and the painful part - printing and binding. I hope that I'll be done by the end of this working week, so that I can have the weekend without worrying about printing. I've been also planning quite a few new projects and photoshoots, so stay tuned for updates~

A sleepy doggy brooch. This was sold during the street market in the summer, but I still wanted to show it to you guys. Really liked it myself :)

Made from fimo clay, leather, beads, fabric. Can't wait to go home and start making things again!

I'm finishing up my university assignment of this term, so a few more days and I'll be free. I will still have almost a week of free time here in London, not sure what I'm gonna do...maybe some nice and cozy Christmas parties with friends...? Need to finish the work first though :)

Reflections: Traditional art fair in Nida

As the cold wind has started freezing all the Londoners, including myself, I found these warm pictures I took in summer during my lovely month at the seaside. There was an art fair of all the traditional Baltic things held in Nida. Everything from food to boats...It was super nice since the whole surrounding area was made into an ancient looking village, the craftsmen were all wearing traditional clothes and there were lots of things for the people to try out, e.g. archery. I am really in love with the ancient Baltic art, because it's very pagan and raw...in a way very natural, I feel that it truly is what Lithuanian spirit is all about. Can't explain properly, sorry, let's just look at the pictures.

So I guess it's not really a very important and artistic post, but I just really wanted to share.

When I posted the SHINee pics a few weeks ago, one random Korean girl wrote me asking if she can re-post the pictures to a Korean fan site. I was very nicely suprised because almost nobody has asked before re-posting any of the pictures and the e-mail was very nice, so of course I said yes. Later on she sent me another e-mail where she thanked again for the pictures and translated some of the comments about the pictures that the Korean fans made. I was soooo happy to read those comments....She also asked me for my address because she said she wanted to send me something in return of the pictures. I was like whaaaat, I really don't feel like I deserve anything for some pictures I took, but she said it's okay and so I gave my address.

And then I came back home today and found this HUGE box with my name on it!

After I got over the first shock about the size of the box, I unpacked all the stuff that was inside and OMG, she has sent me 2 SHINee albums, a huge poster, some pictures, some jewellery, some other things and LOADS, I tell you, LOADS of Korean candy and snacks!!! She even wrote me a very sweet letter!!!

That's definitely not something you'd expect from a person you don't even know in real life! I'm so so so happy with everything and soooo amazed by how nice some people can be! Seriously, ever since I started taking pictures, this was the kindest and the most awesome 'thank you' I've ever gotten. Aaaah, I totally don't deserve this, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Since I completely forgot about dinner because of the package, I should get something to eat before I die. But this has definitely inspired me to put more effort in everything I do. Will do my best-est-est-est from now on! Fighting!

안녕 everyone, a post about some little bits of Asia in my life and uni recently. Soooo, two weeks ago I officially started learning Korean! Officially, because I had my first informal lesson ^^ My coursemate's boyfriend wants to improve his English and is teaching me and Heymon Korean - it's pretty much a language exchange. It started almost like a joke, but JB (our teacher) takes things pretty seriously which I'm happy about! We had our second lesson last week, learning Hangul now and bits of random phrases with which we scare the Korean speakers during the lectures, haha.

The first time we came JB made us lunch which was really good! I even ate meat, even though I haven't really eaten any for the past 5 years or so. Sorry again for food pictures, but since all this Asian food is so unusual for me, I just wanted to share.

Haha, I loved how JB explains everything by drawing things. So that's how we were learning the different parts of the face. LOL.

Most of you guys probably know, that I'm obsessed with all things Japanese too, including the language that I've been learning by myself for quite a few years already. I met some Japanese students who are, again, learning English, and they're helping me with my Japanese. It's different from the Korean lessons, since my Japanese level is much better compared to my non-existent Korean, so I basically try to speak Japanese to them, even though I sometimes get lazy and switch into English...-.- Should force myself more. I definitely will.

And then university...lately I really enjoy it. Got to know people better, the lectures are very interesting recently and I'm finally doing something for my assignments, which feels great. However you put it, I'm one those weirdos who enjoy working. Learning new things makes me happy. InDesign also makes me happy, when it listens to me. But hey, first time working with this programme, I already have around 50 pages of my catalogue! Still need to write an essay, finish a few art projects that should go to the catalogue and polish the design of the whole book (which is gonna be hell loads of work). Still almost 2 weeks left, so it's okay.

2 weeks, seriously? I'm going home in a little bit more than two weeks? ありえない！でも本当に嬉しいだよ！

Heymon also took a picture of my beloved shoes but the funny thing is that they're falling apart and the only hole in one of the shoes is like in the center of the picture! I was convinced that Heymon did that on purpose, but she denied, haha.

Green mermaid cat brooch

another summer creation of mine, The Green Mermaid Cat Brooch. A little bit similar to my lovely matryoshka cats/bunnies Čiobrelis and Danielius, but different both in the shape (brooch vs pendant) and identity (cat vs fish, haha). Made from fabric, leather, beads, face painted on fabric with textile paint. As far as I know, this brooch is still available, so drop me a line if interested (ieva.souchi (at) gmail.com). The self-portraits were taken in summer, now my hair is so much longer, feels really weird looking back at these pictures now. It's probably the longest variant I've had in years... haha, on a totally unrelated note, I've just noticed that I'm wearing Čiobrelis today, what a coincidence.

Suomi in black and white

Pictures taken almost two weeks ago when I met Suomi for a nice walk and talk about life and of course UWCs. She has graduated from UWC in Wales, the one I visited last spring (pictures here). Very interesting to get different perspectives about things, but to be still able to understand and be understood. We should catch-up soon...I need to catch-up with sooooo many people, seriously...

Another week has passed by, not too many things happening, but some interesting projects ahead (hopefully!) and some new things that I am gonna update you guys about later. The beginning of the week was very hard for me as I had a pretty weird mood only wanting to stay home and spend some time on my own, but had to keep promises and meet people...not doing this ever again. The world won't fall apart without me, but I would definitely fall apart without myself being in peace. I guess that's the lesson I've got to learn.

It's funny, thesedays I feel like I talk too much. But people around me don't, so what am I supposed to do? I also think I probably cannot really represent myself in a proper way, I always feel that people misunderstand how my life works. I just talk, sometimes maybe not taking my own words seriously. I probably should... I just feel that I'm not really what people think I am - not in a bad way, but just not the way I see myself. Well, I guess Ieva in public and Ieva with herself only are two different people anyway and there's no way of merging those two together. Whoopsie, I think we're digging too deep here! It's just that I'm meeting a lot of new people recently and getting really confused to be seen in a way that I'm not used to. Maybe I have actually changed a lot... :)

Getting back to some serious business, I'm trying to put things together and do some artsy stuff, so stay tuned for updates. 'I dream here too' project is still updated every day, check it out here. Facebook page also updated, same goes for my tumblr and blog design a little bit (are the gifs ok, not too distracting?). I was in the mood of deleting old things recently, such as four years of my last.fm scrobbles or some of the facebook photo albums, so don't be suprised if some of the links in the older posts don't work anymore. I just feel like cleaning up a little bit. Other than that, I'm again very, very grateful for such a huge feedback about the SHINee pictures, thank you so much. I've updated the post with some links to the websites where the post was reblogged, you can also read the Korean translation if you want - someone translated the whole post! Makes me feel really appreciated, thaaaaanks!

P.S. If anyone likes Korean music, Tablo's new album is one of the best Korean albums I've ever listened to. I'm not a fan of rap music, but this is just good. I also love his commentary video, take a look here.

P.S.2. Probably most of you know that I'm a big fan of zemotion (Zhang Jingna) - if I were to name an idol, that would be her. So she was on the TwitPhoto talk the other day, a very nice overview of her career and works, take a look here, it's really nice and inspiring!

Leather tassel pendant for men

A leather tassel pendant for guys! Similar to the brown tassel pendant, also another type of accessory for guys - 'Let it snow' collar here. I tried wearing it a few times myself, it's fine for girls too. Minimalistic, but that's what one sometimes needs if the model of the clothes is very elaborate. Can be found at Ameli boutique (unless it's sold already, sorry guys, not sure since it's in Lithuania). But drop me a line if interested anyway, I can always ask my mum.

These pictures were taken in summer, seems like ages ago...I still can't understand how I managed to make so many accessories in summer, I still have material for like 30 posts or something...I'm going home exactly in one month, so will be making new things soon too :)

Ting-Lin took me and a bunch of other people to a super nice Korean restaurant called Kimchee today. It was so nice, I just have to make a blog post about it.

So, first of all, whoever worked on the light design there - that person is a genius. As you can see from the amount of pictures, I loved the lightning there. Everything, even the stairs were lit perfectly and at the same time very artisticly. I just love these pictures of Jungwon, they have a bit of a cinematic feeling, don't you think?

And then pardon me for being so Asian, but I actually took pictures of the food too. I loved how Jungwon ordered many different things and we all shared, so everyone got to taste so many dishes. The staff was amazingly nice too. What made me super happy was the Japanese Green Tea flavoured ice-cream - it was SO GOOD, just like the ones I had in Japan. Seriously, it's maybe not the cheapest place to eat, but it's definitely worth treating yourself with one nice meal at a wonderfully designed place. And no, they didn't pay me for making this post, I really really liked that restaurant. Haha, check their website if you wanna visit!

SHINee in London

So as promised, the post about the SHINee concert in London, a.k.a Ieva's dream-that-she-didn't-even dare-dreaming-about coming true. This post is picture and fangirling heavy, so beware ^^

I'll start with a few pictures from outside the hall. I came to Odeon at around noon and there was already a bunch of people waiting outside. I had nothing to do, so I stayed there instead of walking around (we all had numbers of the seats on the tickets, so technically there was no point in waiting...). It was a lot of fun though. Everyone was so excited, smiling and happy, holding posters and stuff, later people started dancing to SHINee's songs...really sweet, I met some super nice people. Though everyone on the street were like 'what a hell?', haha, looking at the colourful crown dancing and screaming next to the entrance to a cinema.

And sooooo, here we go with the SHINee pictures. I've never been that excited about my own pictures, honestly. I could have taken much better ones, but we weren't allowed to stand up from our seats, because they said that they're gonna stop the concert if we try to go to the stage. Understandable, because the stage is so small in the cinemas, coming closer would mean getting on the stage basically. But anyway, that's the best I could do. Hope you enjoy! KEY. KEY was a DIVA. Almost everyone (except for Minho) did ballads for their solo performances, really beautiful ones, but then BAM, Key walks out with this awesome outfit and Kesha's 'Tik Tok'. OMG. Love this charisma and him to pieces. He totally rules the audience.

I was never very much fond of Minho for some reason, but this live really changed my opinion. Now I do understand why he has his stage nickname and he totally deserves it. Respect.

Soooo....I don't really know what to say about the concert. It was amazing seeing them. For me it really was like my dreams actually touched my reality. I never expected I'd see SHINee live, it was more something you watch on youtube and think as if it's some other world, not yours. I also stayed for the movie (which was very good! 'War of the Arrows' it's called) and SHINee came to watch the movie too. They were sitting like 2-3 rows behind us!!! Totally unbelievable.

It's funny though, how emotional that Thursday was for me and how calm I feel now. I feel as if nothing is impossible now. Dreams can become reality. Even such people as SHINee are simply people. Don't know how to explain...but I feel at ease with myself now and reaching for my dreams. I'll do my best, whatever happens, that's what I feel.

Waah, Asia has always been an inspiration for me. Thanks so much for this concert, organisers, friends, people I met and especially SHINee.

I am super happy right now.

Pink fimo cross necklace

I've realised that I haven't been posting any pictures of my handmade accessories recently, even though I still have so many of them you guys haven't seen yet. A pink fimo cross necklace today. I have started wearing it only recently, because I was always so obsessed with the Taemin necklace and this one looked so small compared to the Taemin one. I've realised though, that it looks very good and visible if combined with clothes of one colour, also this one pink leather vest I got around a month ago at home in Lithuania.

hey everyone! I'm finally feeling a little bit better (except for the running nose, aaaah), so an update from me!

Life's been pretty hectic, as it always is, but now I'm trying to calm myself down and do some work finally.

Which is pretty much impossible recently, because I'm going crazy about the fact that I got a ticket to my favourite Korean band's concert. YES. SHINee is coming to London and I'm gonna see them on Thursday!!! For those who know me, you understand what an important thing it is for me. Especially because I really didn't expect or even dream about seeing them at all! It's so rare for such a popular Korean band to come to the U.K.! I really randomly visited this website about Korean pop music last week, on Wednesday I think, and there was a message about them coming to open the Korean Film Festival, but no info about tickets or anything...after having screamed out of joy in my room, I was nervously waiting for more info and then on Thursday the tickets were out! I asked my dad and brother to get them for me online since I knew they're gonna be sold out in a few minutes, but the online booking system broke down (of course...thousands of people wanted the tickets...some even coming from Belgium and other countries), so I ditched one of the non-compulsary lectures and went to the theatre to buy the ticket myself. And yay, I got it, 3rd row, pretty damn close to the stage (having in mind that the concert will be held in a cinema). Also going to a premiere of a famous Korean movie 'War of the Arrows', right after the concert. I met some of the Shawols (that's a term used to call the people who are fans of SHINee), everyone seems to be very nice and I'm super excited!!!! I am totally gonna go overboard with my fandom in the Asian way, which includes taking loads of pictures, fanchanting, screaming and stuff like that. I really don't care, haha. OMG, two days left only!!!!

Ok, SHINee aside for a few minutes, the pictures here are from last Monday's workshop at my uni where we tried to come up with some creative ways of how to organize things using loads of candy. Really enjoyed that day, even though by the end of it everyone was sick of sweets...we didn't eat them at that point, but the smell and touching them all the time is enough. Just like when you make food, it feels as if you've eaten already, right? We had to make some experiments with those candies back home too, I've put some into a glass of coke and left them for a day, they looked so disguisting when taken out, haha. I don't really drink coke much (almost not at all), but I guess now I will completely ban it from my life.

Talking about food, I made pancakes yesterday and today! Yay, Ieva making food!

Other than uni, I've been meeting some super nice uwc people, as well as some very cool Japanese students which is finally making me use the remains of my Japanese in practise. Finally. I should start revising slowly, as well as learning some more Korean (for god's sake, Ieva, do your uni work first...).

What isyour name?

This isjust to clarify that my name starts with an “I” (as in ice-cream) , not an “L”.I don’t mind it too much, but it’s way nicer to have my name spelled correctlyin all the messages and e-mails I get. So here it is, my name is Ieva and notLeva.

Where/whatdo you study now?

I study atthe London College of Communication, BA (Hons) Graphic and Media Design.

What isCRS?

CRS standsfor “Camp Rising Sun” and it is an international leadership summer camp I haveattended two times as a representative of Lithuania and that has changed andinfluenced my life a lot.

Why/wheredid you study in Italy?

I studiedat the United World College Adriatic, one of the UWC movement schools. I won ascholarship in 2009 and went there as a representative of Lithuania. Check theUWC Lithuania website for more info.

How do youmanage do make so many things?

Timemanagement. Procrastination disease is known for everyone, but it is possibleto plan your life and make yourself do things. I still don‘t understand how Imanaged to survive 6 years of art school along with the most difficult years atschool and also making crafts, taking photos and learning Japanese all at thesame time. But small tips would be – use every minute. Make lists. Think oflittle awards for yourself once the task is finished. Never do one thing untilit gets boring. Listen to advices and try to improve. Try, try and try oncemore. Things go much smoothier when you have the skills.

Why do youlike Asia so much?

A lot ofpeople don‘t really understand why I am so obsessed with Asia. Well, the simpleanswer is that I find all the pieces of myself I cannot find in my own culturalsurroundings. I love their joyful culture, their artistic culture, their music.

Anotherside of all this matter is my own personal story. I was very sick 5 years ago,with a disease that destroyed my self-confidence completely, as well as tookaway most of my friends and all that planned life I had before. Slowlyrecovering I found myself in need of something new, something I could work-onconstantly and maybe find some new interesting aspects in life. That‘s when Istarted learning Japanese, got involved with the Asia/Japan lover community inLithuania, found some amazing and true friends and basically had my liferebuilt from a scratch. Therefore, what for some people might look as a weirdobsessions, for me is a base of my current life and of what I am now.

How did youlearn Japanese? Is it hard?

I amself-taught (and I'm not really good anymore, but anyway). It was a little difficult in the beginning, but mostly because Iwas really upset with the fact that I lived in a small town with noopportunities to study Japanese with a teacher. I think this made me even morepersistent though... I studied with simple textbooks I got from the Internet,later listening to music and watching movies. My very first experience ofactually speaking Japanese was an interview at the Japanese Embassy... Itreally took a lot of courage, but once you overcome the fear barrier, learninga language is much easier. I never managed to get that with my Italian though,haha.

Have youbeen to Japan? How did you travel there?

Yes, I wentthere in the summer 2010. I managed to save up some money from making andselling my handmade accessories in various street markets, of course my parentshelped me too, but it took me around 3-4 years to finally be able to fulfil mybiggest dream. I planned the trip myself, stayed mostly with my friends fromthe college and camp, as well as a lot of couchsurfers. I travelled alone mostof the time too. The planning took me a very long time, but it was definitelyworth it!

How do youmanage to maintain so many accounts everywhere?

I do notuse all the accounts all the time. My most active ones are my blog, my twitter,my facebook and both of my tumblrs. The others I update just time to time. Buta clever thing to do is to link the different accounts. Twitter can be linkedto almost anything and would help you spread the news about the new updates inthe other websites, such as facebook or tumblr.

What otherhobbies do you have?

I‘m verymuch into literature, juggling, yoga, I like cycling and I also love the sea.

Your lifeseems to be so awesome/fun/amazing.

I get a lotof messages like that. I know that it might look as if I don‘t do anything but goaround travelling to such awesome places like Japan or living in Italy on thecoast of the beautiful Adriatic sea. First of all, I do not post any negativethings on my blog. Everyone has their ups and downs, but I don‘t think thateverything has to be public. My blog is for sharing my happy moments with theothers and not bothering them with my problems. Another thing is that I do worka lot. Not always as much as I‘d like to, but I really try to do my best. Apartfrom my wonderful family, I don‘t think that I got anything for granted.

Photography

Where haveyou learnt photography?

I amself-taught. I have been to some photography events/camps where I got someadvices regarding my photos, but honestly, nothing is better than simply a lotof practise. Go out, experiment, change settings, learn from your favouritephotographers. As for the composition skills, I think this is what one has tobe born with, but 6 years of Art school might have formed a base for me.

Whatequipment do you use?

I use CanonEOS 400D with Canon Ultrasonic 28-135mm Lens, Canon EF 50mm Lens , CanonSpeedlite 430 EXII external flash and a simple reflector. I also have a Bambootablet. My laptop is a simple Dell and so I screw up all of my photos becausethe monitor is not colour calibrated *sad laughter*

Whatsoftware do you use?

I use AdobePhotoshop CS5, Adobe Bridge for selecting the images and usually Lightroom forediting RAW images. Yes, I always shoot in RAW, unless the pictures are justfor keeping the information, e.g. texts.

How do youadjust the colours/tone, etc.?

I use PS5,as I mentioned before. I usually play with Curves, but in this stage thepicture should already be edited in RAW. There is no rule or anything, the bestis to try and find your own way.

How do youfind models/designers, etc.?

Some of mymodels are my friends or relatives, but I do write to random people on facebookor other websites if I think that their features are what I want for thephotoshoot. I have found many models simply by browsing photos on facebook. Ialso use ModelMayhem when searching for models abroad. Stopping people on thestreet is also a good way. Just don‘t be afraid, most people feel really happyto have pictures of them taken.

How do youget your pictures published?

I haven‘thad that many photos of mine published, but the way I do it is again, write topeople. I have written countless amount of e-mails and messages to randompeople – models, artists, designers, publishers. Most of them won‘t reply, butthe ones that do usually have something to offer. Some others might not replyat that time, but remember you later. It is all about being seen andrecognised.

Can I askfor advice on my portfolio/photography?

Yes, ofcourse. I try to answer every single message I get, even though it has become alittle difficult recently since I have quite a few personal and uni projects Ihave to be working on and most of my friends are all over the world and Ireally want to keep in touch with all of them. In any case, I'm not an expert and it would only be my personal opinion...but if you're happy with that, I'd be glad to help!

Do you sellyour works?

Yes, I do.My works are available at the Ameli boutique, you can also drop me a lineanytime for commissions or works that you want to buy. I used to sell things atEtsy, but it is inactive now.

What materialsdo you use?

I mainlyuse beads, leather, fimo clay, feathers, metal details, fabric, etc.

Where doyou get your materials?

My mum buysmost of the things in various craft shops, since I‘m away all the time indifferent countries...but I also use a lot of recycled materials or reuse oldclothes, shoes, etc.

Where haveyou learnt making things?

My mum hastaught me how to crochet and knit, but the other things came with practise. Iam totally horrified when I see my own designs from a few years back, but ohwell, at least I‘ve changed for the better.

How longdoes it take to make accessories?

It reallydepends. Some earrings might take 15 minutes to make, some of the beaded workstake the whole day or two. It also takes longer when I experiment with newshapes and constructions.

Where doyou get your ideas?

Busy days in London

Hello, so before I get into another week's works, I thought I should update you guys about my life a little bit. That little bit turned out to include thousands of pictures and a pretty long post, since so many things were happening last week, so in case you don't have much time, I can say that I'm fine and happy, so that you can happily skip the rest of the post.

For those who do have time and can keep on reading, I'll tell a bit more.

So last week on Thursday, even before my birthday, I moved to my UWC co-year's Maria's place for a few days, because Emilija's family came to visit and they needed to sleep somewhere. I admit, it was a little troublesome to get to my university from an unknown place and so on, but other than that I had a really great time with Maria. On Friday we went to the 'Bourgeois and Maurice' concert at Bistrotheque, it was really cool and very new genre for me as well. They are a neo-cabaret duo, focusing on music, as well as the stage performances, costumes and make-up. They're also very much a comic duo...Here's one of their songs - 'Addicted', check them out, I heard them for the first time in my life, but I think I'll stay a fan for a time to come. The place itself was also pretty interesting. The area was a little bit dodgy, but we really enjoyed watching the colourful crowd gathering for the concert, especially because most of the time we couldn't figure out whether they're women/men or someone in between. Haha, it was really cool.

On Saturday we went to Greenwich, the park and the street market. The day was super nice and I really enjoyed it, even though it was a lot of walking from New Cross Gate to Greenwich.

Sunday was my birthday and since both of us were tired, we stayed in with brownies and some movies. It was fun also because the halls where Maria lives and I was staying at too got flooded a few times, so there were lots of things happening, including the water dripping through the fire alarm and things like that. You can see Maria and I having fun in one of the kitchens that was, fortunately, not flooded. I really love those windows in the roof.

On Monday I moved back home and had one of the longest days ever in uni. I still enjoy it very much though, but sometimes it just takes very long and one gets tired/hungry/sleepy. You know, all the human being stuff.

On Tuesday I had a little photoshoot with Ting-Lin, the girl in the picture above. We went around in Covent garden with her and another coursemate of mine, Jazel. So much fun going to shops with Asians^^

Ting-Lin and Jazel. Ting-Lin has showed us some really nice places in the Covent Garden, I already liked that place before, but now I love it even more.

Wednesday found me working the whole day, mostly trying to catch up with everything, I also met a very cool Lithuanian photographer Aistė. I probably have told you guys about her at some point before, but here's her blog in case you don't know who she is. She studies photography here in London, first year like me, and I'm sure that she has a great future in front of her. I knew her from the internet for a while, really cool to met those awesome people in real life afterwards.

Thursday was again uni and then long hours in the library reading and basically killing time until the evening. In the evening I went to this pub where Japanese speakers who want to improve their English and English speakers who want to improve their Japanese gather for the reasons mentioned. My friend told me about it and I was a little bit sceptical at first because I thought it's gonna be awkward just coming to a random pub and talking to random people. I was wrong. Well, it was a bit awkward in the beginning, but overall it was a lot, A LOT of fun and I can't wait for another meeting. I hope I will also be a bit less afraid to speak Japanese, since last time I was hesitating because I haven't really spoken Japanese for years.

Later on in the Giraffe restaurant with Ting-Lin, Vaughn, Jazel and Chelsea, just for a little while before I hurried to a little UWC (Atlantic) BBQ gathering which was a little bit weird, because most of the people were from the other college, so most of the crowd I didn't know at all...but it was really nice seeing Mikki, Jens and Jonathan, also meeting the other guys. And last night Emilija had a party here, in the house I live, which was also fun, but I was so so soooo tired that I locked myself in my room for most of the night and finished editing Ting-Lin's pictures from Tuesday's photoshoot. I'm really looking forward to a calm week actually, there's so much to do for the uni assigments...

And the last picture is from Friday's colour workshop in my university, this is London College of Communication, Graphic and Media Design, Blue group in a colour wheel. Everyone was really laughing when they told us to lie on the ground in a circle, but it does look cool and there's also a heart shape in the middle, that wasn't planned completely. So right after I've turned 20, I'm starting a new photography project that I've been thinking about for quite a while. It's called 'I dream here too'. The pictures will be mostly posted in the idreamheretoo tumblr here, but I'll probably put them up here too. Here's the description, hope you guys will like my idea! I'm starting with myself and my grandma.

‘I dream here too’ is a one year long ‘365’ photography project by a young Lithuanian photographer and artist Ieva Blaževičiūtė.

‘I dream here too’ is about people and their dreams. Every single day we meet different people – friends, colleagues, relatives, random passers-by. We might know them well, we might know only the masks they put on not always wanting to show what they really are inside. Even so, every single one of them has their wishes and dreams. Something we might not even know about. Somewhere really deep inside.

When asked about their dreams, people smile. And that is when one can see their faces without those every day masks.

This is what ‘I dream here too’ is about. I dream here. You do too.

DIY - the cross wedges

These are the cross wedges that I re-decorated and later used for the 'But the mind holds the key' photoshoot. I had them for a very long time, made various sketches in my mind of the things I could do with them, but ended up making a pretty plain design, so that I could wear them with almost all te colours in my wardrobe.

So, as you can see, they were of a plain jeans-blue colour, which I hate so much. I painted the whole base black with the textile paint, stiched some decorated ribbons on the front (it's very hard to sew, because the leather underneath is very hard, let alone the thick jeans material) and a cross from fabric and metal details on the upper part. I'm still thinking of making something on the back of the shoe, but I guess I'll leave it for the next summer season. The wedges are very comfy, yet I find it a bit hard not to look like an alien with an extra 10+ centimeters having in mind that I'm not that small and my legs are pretty long compared to the body. Very easy to look inappropriate, really...so I might be selling those, but I don't know yet...I'll let you guys know. For now, though, I'd like to hear if anyone would like to get anything of this kind - I'd look around for some nice items I could decorate then - shoes, hats or things like that - just drop me a line!

I will be a nomad for a few days, probably until Monday or so, not sure if I can connect to the internet either, so please text me if there's anything urgent (if not - I'll read your messages later, no worries!).
